Data Assimilation Methodology

Organizers and Conveners: Steve Fletcher (Colorado State University, US), James Taylor (RIKEN, Japan)

Data assimilation encompasses a broad range of methods and techniques to combine observation data with numerical models to provide a best estimate of the state of the system.  We invite abstracts focusing on recent advancements in methodologies to address the challenges within the world of data assimilation, including developments in variational and ensemble-based data assimilation schemes, and the establishment of novel approaches to tackle data assimilation problems. Newly established methods to assimilate emerging observation datasets, including radar, satellite and in-situ data are also welcomed.
